adventures of aqua girl: part X

it almost feels sad, this last day of swim lessons. i feel like i have so much more to learn. audrey did a good job at introducing us to the four basic strokes: front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke and breaststroke.

we spent the bulk of the class working on whatever each of us wanted help with.

my front crawl is getting better. audrey advised that i should swing my arms back past my hips and then swing my arms up and around to help get my elbows up towards the ceiling. seems i have a bit of that chicken wing going on still. or to visualize it better, it looks like i'm elbowing someone out of my way.

nobody could put the breaststroke quite together yet but she said it'll take practice and to focus on our leg movements for that. once we get that, our upper body movements and breathing will be easy to sync up.

we ended the class swimming to the deep end to tread water. amazingly, the one thing i wanted to get out of these swimming lessons, i was able to do by the end of the course. starting out, i didn't know how to tread water. couldn't do it to save my life. but now, i could tread for about 15+ seconds. to me, that is huge. i even got to learn how to go from this vertical position to swimming on your front or back.

we even got "report cards" at the end of class that we could take to our next lessons, should we want to continue.

continue?

just try to get me out of the water.
